What is and how is done an arthroscopy?

The arthroscopy is considered a highly specialized and a minimally invasive surgical procedure. The surgery duration can be between 20 and 60 minutes.
Normally is used a regional or loco regional anaesthesia and it can be done with therapeutic or diagnostic purposes. With this type of surgery, the specialist can observe inside the articulation and make a wide variety of surgical procedures with a minimum risk in respect of conventional surgery.
Usually the patient can leave the hospital on the same or next day. The recovery process, generally takes less time because the tissue damage is minimal, compared to the open surgery.
Technique: It consists to make 2 or 3 cuts around the articulation, approximately of 2 to 4 mm, which the specialist will use to introduce a liquid solution with an objective to observe clearly the join cavity.
The doctor will introduce the arthroscopy, which consists in a tiny camera connected to a display that will allow the surgeon to see inside and do the surgery.
The rest of the incisions are used to introduce the surgical instruments, necessary for the procedure. At the end of the surgery, the instruments as well as the liquid solution will be removed. The specialist will close the cuts with stitches and cover them with a bandage.
Possible arthroscopy surgeries: Knee Arthroscopy, Hip Arthroscopy, Shoulder Arthroscopy, Ankle Arthroscopy, among others.

KNEE PROSTHESIS AND PROSTHETIC REPLACEMENT

Over the years, the articulations wear out and it can keep you out from doing normal activities because of the pain or disability. Is time to think in a prosthesis, when it has been tried other treatments such as medication, physiotherapy, and other surgeries and the pain is still present.
What does it consist of and the possibilities of a prosthetic surgery ?
In this type of procedure, it will be replaced the damaged articular surfaces of the knee for artificial articulations.
Normally is used a spinal or loco regional anaesthesia and the surgery duration can be between 40 and 60 minutes, of course depends of each case. The stay at the Hospital has a medium term of 3-4 days, depends of the surgery.
What kind of implants are there and its duration?
Currently, are used different equipment such as titanium, polyethylene and different types of metal alloys.
The duration of the knee prosthesis nowadays is between 15 and 30 years, depends of each case and different factors. A prosthetic replacement consists in the substitution of a damaged prosthesis for a new one.

HIP PROSTHESIS AND PROSTHETIC REPLACEMENT

The hip prosthetic is the replacement of the damaged joint for an artificial articulation. It can be, a full replacement, a partial replacement or a refill of a previous prosthesis. Over the years, the articulations wear out and it can keep ou out from doing normal activities because of the pain or disability. Is time to think in a prosthesis, when it has been tried other treatment such as medication , physiotherapy, and other surgeries and the pain is still present.
What does it consist of and the possibilities of a prosthesic surgery ?
In this type of procedure, it will be replaced the damaged articular surface of the hip (femur and pelvis ) for artificial articulations.
In this surgical procedure is used a spinal or loco regional anaesthesia and the surgery duration can be between 40 and 60 minutes, of course depends of each case. The stay at the Hospital has a medium term of 3-4 days, depends of the surgery.

What kind of implants are there and it duration? The equipment used for a hip prosthesis can be a metal alloys, titatium, caramic and polymer materials.
This kind of materials are the most appropriate in resistance, durability and behaviour during efforts ones the prosthesis is implanted.
Nowadays and thanks to the new materials, the duration of the hip prosthesis is between 20 and 30 years, depends of each case and different factors
A prosthesic replacement consists in the substitution of a damaged prosthesis for a new one.

WHAT IS A NAVIGATED PROSTHESIS AND WHY WE RECOMMEND IT ?

This procedure was designed with an objective of improvement in the anatomical placement and alignment of the prosthesic implants trough free-dimensional navigation system.
With this high precision system and the assistance of computer systems, the surgeon can develop the prosthesis placement obtaining bigger osteoligament stability.
This surgical technique can be used for a knee and hip replacement and it is 100% recommended because the specialist can have the maximum precision during the surgery.
